Ahh, the Mountains

As promised, I'm writing after our trip to the mountains. We had a beautiful time at the Westin Riverfront in Avon, which is just outside Beaver Creek & Vail. Our room was absolutely amazing- gourmet kitchen, two decks with views of the river and mountains, marble bathroom... Sena, please know that this is NOT the lifestyle you should grow accustomed to- although it is fun to travel this way once in awhile!

Sena seems to really enjoy the mountains in general, but that doesn't really say all that much considering how happy she is most of the time. We arrived in Vail around dinner, and proceeded to go to the happy hour at the hotel, which was like Los Angeles trend scene meets Mountain resort. Very strange. Not our vibe at all. Not to mention, I felt TOTALLY in place of course, carrying around a jumbo diaper bag and sporting some of Sena's snack on my shirt from the car-ride. Yes, motherhood is glamorous. After finally scoring some vino and beer and pizza, we found a quiet nook to eat. Sena loves pizza. Pizza, pizza, pizza, please!

That evening, we were off to a bit of a late start. You see, Sena usually goes to bed around 6:30, and we were pushing 8. She was fine, or so we thought, until just before bed (a la nude), Sena tried to climb into her bed, "night, night". Umm, I don't think so love!

Otherwise, we spent the weekend hiking amongst the wildflowers, spa-ing, and enjoying the mountains. We love Colorado, which is only highlighted on these once-a-year trips we finally take. And, every time as we're driving down the mountain, we have the same conversation.. How can we find a small, quiet, lake or river-side town, and purchase a summer cabin? We'll gladly give the cabin over to you skiers (you know who you are) in the winter. Just give us the summer. Takers?

Letter Month Sixteen

Dear Sena,

Approximately a year ago, your papa and me decided to take our birthday vacation to Vail, bringing you along (of course). And to our amazement (not sure why- but hey, we were sleep-deprived), you did so well. I remember you slept through the night up there, let us take great hikes, went to dinners and smiled, and were a dream baby. I'm just telling you this because we're about to embark on our 2nd birthday vacation to the Vail area- and are hoping for a somewhat repeat performance. Yes, we will take you to fun places to play. Yes, you'll get to try the yummy food, too, which will involve your favorites: ava (avocado), waffles, pizza, pasta, berries, nana... (hopefully not together.) Sounds like a deal, right?

More of letter Month 16 to come when we return.

love,
mama
